Uncharted Waters Volume 21

Hello again, all! Hopefully 2016 is treating you well so far. What say we start off February with a brand-new volume of Uncharted Waters?

I'm working through my backlog of UW material and digitizing as much as I can. I really only get one day on the weekends to work on digitizing this stuff, so it's not very efficient. But I didn't want to keep you waiting any longer either...so here you go.

By the way, I have also been culling my collection of private-press/small labels from about 1973 to 1988 and picking out some worthwhile rock, pop and new wave stuff. Was thinking about putting some of that into a compilation or two - let me know if you'd be interested in that.

Uncharted Waters Volume 20

As promised, here is Volume 20 of the series. Hopefully it is worth waiting for, and I'm very happy to get back into the swing of things.

The audio files are now 320kbps; ideally I would save them as FLAC files, but they are not really portable and take up much more space than MP3s. Still, they are miles ahead of the lower-quality stuff I posted earlier on.

1. The Attack - Any More Than I Do (London 45 LON 1013, 1967)
2. White Plains - Carolina's Comin' Home (Deram DEM 85072, 1971)
3. The Gentrys - Goddess Of Love (Sun SI-1120, 1970)
4. Dust - Gone (YAS 104, 1969)
5. Liquid Smoke - Hard To Handle (Avco Embassy AVE-4546, 1970)
6. ??? - Hey Little "P.J." Gal (Mattel 1153, 1970)
7. The Bantams - I'm So Lucky (Warner Bros. 5868, 1966)
8. Dewey Martin - Jambalaya (On The Bayou) (Uni 55178, 1969)
9. Rockin' Horse People - Last Night's Dream (Mercury DJ-246, 1970)
10. The Love Generation - Magic Land (Imperial 66289, 1968)
11. The Naked Truth - Rag Doll Boy (Deram DEM-85061, 1970)
12. Paul Hampton - Rolling Hills Golf And Country Club (Warner Bros. 7396, 1970)
13. Kin Vassy - That's The Bag I'm In (Uni 55139, 1969)
14. West, Bruce and Laing - The Doctor (Columbia 4-45741, 1972)
15. The Affection Collection - Time Rests Heavy On My Hands (United Artists UA 50268, 1968)

Download link is here!

Special thanks to Omega Music, Tom Luce, Phil's Records, Northside Record Fair, and that antique mall in Nashville that I can't remember the name of.

An explanation for Uncharted Waters' recent absence

Hello all, it's Peter (a.k.a. HarvestmanMan) again. This blog has been dead as a doornail over the past few months and I apologize for that.

Remember when I touted the new way of recording things that was supposedly skip-free? It wasn't after all. I began recording tracks for UW Volume 20 a few months ago, but upon finding that nearly all of them had skips of some sort in them, I deleted everything that I had planned for that volume. The problem lies within my computer itself, and replacing it is not economically feasible for me right now.

But...I do have access to another computer that really does have skip-free recording. I've recorded about three dozen tracks for upcoming volumes of Uncharted Waters.

So yes, the series is returning VERY soon. Keep your eyes and ears out. And once again, I apologize for the absence. I would rather wait a while for better recordings that provide all of you with sub-par files.

Thanks for sticking with me.

Uncharted Waters Volume 19

University is back in session - which means less time to hunt for records but more time to catch up on the ones I haven't listened to yet. This particular batch of wax is mostly from the late '60s, so it is pretty good stuff. One of these guys is even parlez-vousing himself some Francais. A Rick Derringer cover, a Tokens tune, and yet another Heywoods release (the last one before they went mainstream and got an actual producer) - this one has quite a variety.  I have included a bonus track to compensate for the time in between posts and the Mediafire troubles...

1. Art-Forms Ltd. - Apple Trees And Butterflies (RCA Victor 74-0354, 1970)
2. The Foundations - Born To Live, Born To Die (Uni 55162, 1969)
3. The Tokens - How Nice? (Warner Bros. 7056, 1967)
4. The Plastic People - It's Not Right (Kapp K-789, 1966)
5. The Heywoods - My Days Are Numbered (Queen-B QF-509, 1968)
6. Christopher Robin - Nature Takin' Its Course (Liberty 56017, 1968)
7. Art Munson - Nothing Gets My Soul (Like Rock 'n' Roll) (Lion 129, 1972)
8. Johnny Hallyday -  Psychedelic (Philips 437.380 BE, 1967)
9. Anaconda - Rock And Roll, Hoochie Koo (Big Tree BT-139, 1972)
10. The Lownly Crowde - Shadows and Reflections (MGM K13740, 1967)
11. The Visions - Threshold of Love (Uni 55031, 1967)
12. Mike Brewer and Tom Shipley - Time and Changes (A&M 996, 1968)
13. The Elastik Band - Tunesmith (Kapp K-968, 1968)
14. Central Park - Who Wouldn't Love To Be Loved (Amy A 11,019, 1968)
15. Rainbow - Your Love Keeps Coming On (Evolution 1056, 1972)
BONUS TRACK: Los Bravos - Things Go Better With Coke (Swingers for Coke ZTEP123782-1, 1966)
